Meet the 2015 CMHA Ontario Division Master of Ceremonies!
Fred Wagner is the Executive Director of the CMHA Waterloo Wellington Dufferin Branch which is a multi-funded organization providing a broad array of children, youth, adult and senior mental health services and select developmental services across the Region of Waterloo, and the counties of Wellington and Dufferin.
Fred began his career in 1988 as a mental health therapist for children and adolescents with the Community Mental Health Clinic in Guelph. He has held a variety of middle and senior management positions administering mental health services within hospital and community settings. Throughout his career, Fred has championed progressive and innovative approaches to the delivery of mental health services through collaboration and partnership.
Fred earned a masters degree in Applied Social Psychology from the University of Guelph and a masters degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Gerri Yerxa is the Psychogeriatric Resource Lead for the Psychogeriatric Resource Program, a program of the Canadian Mental Health Association Fort Frances Branch. Gerri currently oversees a team that builds staff capacity and provides direct care to older adults with a dementia, mental illness and/or other complex care needs living in long term care. Her current area of practice is providing consultation services, education and training to long term care facilities and community support agencies within the Kenora and Rainy River Districts. Gerri has been involved with the Behavioural Supports Ontario initiative within the NW LHIN as a member of their Operations Committee. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Ottawa, a Masters in Social Work from Lakehead University and has completed the OANHSS Administration Leadership Program. Gerri has over 20 years’ experience working in the human services field with the last 12 years specific to geriatric mental health.
